The Tennessee Volunteers are opening their SEC schedule against the Georgia Bulldogs (12), but both teams are looking for their first conference win.

Georgia and their Heisman candidate running back Todd Gurley rebounded last week against Troy, winning 66-0, a week after losing to South Carolina. On the other hand, Tennessee opened their season with two wins before losing 34-10 to Oklahoma.

Tennessee has an opportunity to jump out in front of Georgia in the SEC East, a division currently being led by South Carolina and Florida. Despite dropping their first SEC game, Mark Richt and his Bulldogs feel like they can either continually open doors for themselves or dig themselves further into a hole.

"It still looks wide open to me," Richt told reporters after beating Troy, according to the Associated Press. "Now, if we don't win Saturday, it won't be very wide open for us. But I think everybody feels that way. I doubt anything will be settled until there are maybe one or two games to go.

"Hopefully he'll have more energy next week because we're going to need it."

Tennessee is off to a good 2-1 start despite being in a transitional phase, though their youth and inexperience was certainly exposed in their loss to Oklahoma. Butch Jones, who is in his second year at Tennessee, knows his team is going to have a hard time in the SEC, which will serve as a valuable lesson.

Tennessee will have to put a lot of focus on trying to slow down Gurley while beating a particularly tough Georgia secondary.

"They have it all, but when you look at them, they all kind of look the same," Jones said. "They have great length, and they have great range."
