The UCLA Bruins (11) and Arizona State Sun Devils (15) are both going into their Pac-12 matchup with uncertainty under center.

For the visiting Bruins, starting quarterback Brett Hundley's status for the matchup is unknown because UCLA is pleading the fifth on the matter. However, Arizona State has acknowledged they will be without Taylor Kelly.

Mike Bercovici is the only other quarterback to have taken snaps for the Sun Devils this season, so he will most likely get the start Thursday night. Arizona State has not disclosed whether or not they expect Kelly to return next week.

Whether or not Hundley will play this week with his injured left arm, Arizona State's approach to the game is not changing.

"No doubt in my mind, we're planning for their quarterback to play," Arizona State coach Todd Graham said Monday, according to the Associated Press.

Thursday night's game may help establish a rivalry between Arizona State and UCLA, as they are both competing in a crowded Pac-12 South. Both schools have their own in-state rivals (Arizona and USC), but all four will be vying for the division's top honors.

UCLA coach Jim Mora was purposely vague, the AP reported, when addressing Hundley's injury earlier this week.

"All of our players who are out, what we try to do is make the best decisions for them based upon the knowledge we have," he said. "We depend on our doctors to get us good information, and we got the best doctors in the nation in my opinion. If they clear him, and they say he can play, just like everyone else, then we'll play him."
