Beyoncé Knowles-Carter may have found her way into the world of higher education for her stance on feminism, but now at least one student wants the pop superstar's birthday to be a recognized holiday.

Ja-Niece Best, a graphic design student at Towson University, tweeted a screenshot of an email she sent to her professor on Sept. 4. Best notified the professor she would not be attending class so she may commemorate Beyoncé's 33rd birthday.

"I love and respect Beyoncé so much. I've loved her for fifteen years," Best told BuzzFeed. "Her music, her work ethic, her success at such a young age. But what I love most about her is her humbleness. Throughout all of the success she still remains a well-grounded sweet country girl and has never become big headed." She said the email was going to be a joke just for herself, but she ended up sending it anyway in a temporarily absent-minded act. Best, however, is not going to be hurt by one missed day, as she later posted another screenshot, this time to show off her straight-A grades.

"They're probably shocked at my email. I didn't mean to send it right away but without thinking," she said. "I ended up sending it so I was so speechless like 'What did I just do!?'"

Best told BuzzFeed the reactions have been somewhat mixed, but that she is only focusing on the positives. For example, she retweeted one English professor who found her email delightful and admitted he would have found it funny and creative if it was addressed to him.

"Some have been calling me crazy, others have been thanking me because it really should be a holiday," Best said. "As for those calling me crazy: I don't understand why, because if they can miss class for staying up partying and drinking all night why can't I miss class for Beyoncé's birthday?"
