Shortly after becoming the first player picked in the NBA Draft, Andrew Wiggins was seemingly on the trading block and now the team that took him appears to have a deal in place to move him.

According to ESPN, Wiggins visited the summer basketball camp hosted by Bill Self, his coach at Kansas. While there as a guest coach, the longtime coach of the Jayhawks said Wiggins confided that he quickly warmed up to the prospect of being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Wiggins was drafted first overall on June 26 and, less than a month later, LeBron James announced he had reached a contract agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers. James notably left Wiggins out of his essay, "I'm Coming Home," published in Sports Illustrated as an announcement.

Shortly after, ESPN began hearing rumors of a possible exchange of Wiggins and Timberwolves' power forward Kevin Love. Of late, those rumors have apparently materialized, as ESPN reported the trade will send Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a first-round draft pick to Minnesota for Love. Since Wiggins signed his rookie contract, he cannot be dealt until Aug. 23.

"When all this trade stuff started, I talked to Andrew and Andrew told me, 'I hope I get traded,'" Self told ESPN. "And I'm like, 'No you don't.' And he said, 'Coach, I do. It's better for me, knowing my personality and what I need to do, to go somewhere where I'm forced to be something as opposed to going in there where they're going to be patient with me and I'm going to be a piece.'"

Though the trade does make sense, Wiggins was placed in an understandably uncomfortable situation immediately after being drafted. The Cavs are in win-now mode and the Wolves are obviously rebuilding, so it works for both sides.

"I think he's handled everything great. He's excited," Self said. "I think the whole thing that's been blown out of proportion a bit is that he's been in limbo. He's known since the summer that he'd be traded. It's OK. In some ways he's looking forward to going to Minnesota."
