Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers are going to reunite far earlier than expected.

According to ESPN, the Packers organization and the all-time great quarterback are going to jointly announce Monday Favre's induction into the team's Hall of Fame in 2015. Along with the induction, Favre's no. 4 jersey will be retired so no future Packer will ever wear it.

The announcement will take place at 1:30 p.m. local time from Lambeau Field, the iconic stadium where Favre played more than a decade-and-a-half as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

"It was a tremendous honor to play 16 years for the Green Bay Packers," Favre said in a statement on his website. "Now to have my name placed among others such as Starr, Hornung, Kramer, Taylor, Lambeau, Nitschke, Lombardi, Davis, White and Hutson is a special honor that I share with all of my teammates and coaches, and that would not have been possible but for the foresight of Ron Wolf, the greatest GM In the history of the NFL.

"I'm truly looking forward to celebrating and sharing this special moment with all of the great fans of the Green Bay Packers."

The Packers' Hall of Fame operates independently from the team, but it is housed in the stadium. It is under renovation currently and will be reopened in April 2015, ahead of the annual induction ceremony held in July.

Favre departed from the Packers unceremoniously in 2007, when he first announced his retirement. After the Packers named Aaron Rodgers the starter, Favre wanted to come back, but the team said he would have to serve as the backup. The result was a trade to the New York Jets.

He played one season in New York before playing his final two for the rival Minnesota Vikings, which was more than disconcerting for the Packer faithful. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported in early July that Favre and the Packers would have no ceremony this season because ownership was not sure Favre's return to Lambeau would be received well.

We could an answer to that Monday afternoon, though the announcement is not taking place in the midst of the regular season.
