The Adelphi University has grabbed the top position in the annual list of "best buy" private schools released by the Fiske Guide to Colleges.
Adelphi President Robert A. Scott said that the Board has persistently aimed at introducing smallest tuition hikes to ensure that their rates remained among the lowest of private schools in the region and the state.
"It is this sustained focus on affordability that has earned the University a Fiske Guide to Colleges "Best Buy" designation for eight consecutive years. We are proud of Adelphi's record as a leading university in the region with strong graduation rates and high student satisfaction," Scott said in a statement.
The list Compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske is based on quality academic offerings and affordable cost at 300-plus public and private colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain.
"All of the Fiske Best Buy schools fall into the inexpensive or moderate price category, and most have four- or five-star academics ratings," said Liz Kelsch, publicity manager for Sourcebooks, Inc., the publisher of Fiske's annual college guide, Huffington Post reports.
Adelphi is followed by the Alfred University. The University has been consistently featured in the publication for more than 15 years. Earl Pierce, AU vice president for enrolment management, said that the University strives to offer quality education at an affordable price.
"Students and their families can be confident that AU will deliver the highest quality educational opportunity, while carefully respecting their investment and effort in a university degree," Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rick Stephens said in a statement.
