For the fourth time in the College World Series (CWS), the Ole Miss Rebels won in an elimination game, sending the TCU Horned Frogs home.

To continue playing in the NCAA baseball tournament, Ole Miss will have to beat Virginia, the third-ranked team in the nation, Friday and Saturday, the Associated Press reported. Also playing to make the CWS finals will be the unbeaten Vanderbilt Commodores and the Texas Longhorns.

Vanderbilt and Texas will start at 3 p.m. ET and will air on ESPNU.

Virginia and Ole Miss will start at 8 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

The difference-maker in Ole Miss' 6-4 victory to move past TCU may well have been giving cleanup hitter Will Allen a night off from catching and instead using him as the designated hitter. Allen went 3-5, drove in three runs and scored one himself. Sikes Orvis, the Rebels' first baseman, hit behind Allen and also registered three hits, bringing in two runs.

"It's just something with this team, when our back's up against the wall, we play really good baseball," Allen told the AP. "Just a tough team, a very confident team. And we've continued to do it throughout the whole season."

Pitching has dominated several games in this year's CWS, but Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said a change in weather conditions Thursday night likely contributed to better offense on both sides.

"Winds not blowing in 20 mph, it's a little different here," he told the AP. "We were able to barrel some balls up and get some hits."

Still, Ole Miss got a strong effort from Wyatt Short and Aaron Greenwood, who combined to pitch the last three innings in relief without surrendering a run or hit. Allen will be an important bat in the Rebels' lineup going forward, but he said not catching for a change did not lead to his offensive breakout, as his approach remained the same.

"You just have to stay in the game and cheer on your teammates," he said. "There is a tunnel back there where I can go and loosen up and take some swings as I see my at-bat coming closer."
