Bloomsburg University head football coach, Danny Hale, will retire in June after leading the Huskies for 20 seasons.

Assistant coach Paul Darragh has been named as the interim head coach for the 2013 season.

"There is a time for everything in life and now is the time to pass the torch to someone else. It has been an incredible 20 years here at Bloomsburg and I am extremely proud of the program that has been established here," Hale told PennLive.

As the head coach of Huskies, Hale helped the team win 11 outright PSAC Eastern Division titles and eight NCAA Division II playoff appearances.

Michael McFarland, director of athletics, told The Morning Call that Hale was a skilled professional, who took the Bloomsburg University football team to its highest level by helping them win some great football games.

McFarland said that Hale coached each and every individual in the team and prepared them to take the next step in their lives and careers.

Hale's commitment toward the game earned him the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) District I Coach of the Year nine times and PSAC Eastern Division Coach of the Year 10 times.

During his career at Bloomsburg he coached some prominent players such as Irv Sigler, the winner of the Harlon Hill Award, Jamar Brittingham and Franklyn Quiteh

He has also trained the NFL star, Jahri Evans from New Orleans Saints, who is regarded as one of the league's top offensive linemen.
