Ali Mann, 27, resigned as the assistant coach of Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Women's Basketball Team after admitting to a relationship with a student in the program.

Mann was just in her first season as a coach when she submitted her resignation, Feb.21, after disclosing her status to the team members during one of their meetings.

The relationship was first spotted, Feb.18, when certain members of the basketball team suspected an affair between the assistant coach and one of the students of the basketball program. They immediately reported to head Coach Jennifer Roos.

BG's Consensual Amorous Relationships Policy states that supervisors and faculty members cannot have supervisory, evaluative, instructional, coaching or other relationships with student or employees with whom they have or had a consensual amorous relationship.

If any individual violates this law, he/she might face a temporary suspension or other disciplinary measures.

BGSU athletics director, Greg Christopher, told ToledoBlade that the university informed the rest of the campus community about Mann's resignation citing personal reasons.

The university will not hire a replacement for Mann until the end of the season.

As a student, Mann was considered as one of the best players in the history of the Bowling Green State University women's basketball program.

One of her notable achievements include a 3-pointer hit in the 2007 NCAA Tournament that helped Falcons beat the Vanderbilt team.
