David Behen, chief information officer for the State of Michigan will give a speech on the state's economy at the Eastern Michigan University on February 7.. He is expected to share his knowledge on reinventing Michigan's economy through information technology.
The university also said that Behen will provide information about the department's goals and mission, the state's key IT metrics, IT investment fund projects, Michigan's cyber range and security as well as IT career opportunities within the state of Michigan. There will be a Q&A session too.
The event is co-sponsored by the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) - Detroit Metropolitan Chapter, Eastern Michigan University's Political Science Department and the EMU Foundation.
Behen's profile:
He joined the State of Michigan in 2011. Prior to it, he worked as CIO and deputy administrator of Washtenaw County. He also cofounded a software company and served as a vice president and CIO of its parent corporation.
Behen received a master's degree in public administration from Eastern Michigan in 1996.
He also serves a critical role in leading development of information technology resources to meet the growing needs of Michigan's citizens. He holds a seat on Governor Rick Snyder's cabinet, advising the governor on technology investments and on implementing innovative IT programs to enhance and expand customer service.
