The Carl Hanson Student Center and Tator Hall at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut were evacuated and closed Wednesday afternoon following reports of a suspected pipe bomb on campus.

The university said the regional bomb squad and Hamden police were investigating the incident, and asked that people remain clear of the area. Around 4:30 p.m., both buildings had reopened and no pipe bomb was found.

Classes scheduled to meet in Tator Hall were moved online for the remainder of the day.

"Where this is not possible, faculty will contact students about course material. Thank you for your patience and understanding," the university said in a statement.
