Google Pixel is pitted against the iPhone 7 last year and it is obvious that the phone's successor will aim at an even better position than the iPhone 8.
Three codenames of the alleged Pixel 2 have been leaked
A recent report suggests that Google plans to launch three Pixel 2 smartphones this year with different specs setup.
Previously, there are two codenames showing up, as per report from BGR. The codename 'Walleye' is believed to be the Pixel 2 base model, while 'Muskie' is for the XL model. As a reminder, Google used fish names for the first-gen Pixel smartphones, Marlin and Sailfish.
A codename 'Taimen' that's been circulating through the web recently, is thought as the largest Pixel 2. It's reported that Google equip it with a 6-inch display, Wccftech reported.
A fresh piece of evidence, however, suggests the contrary. Taimen may be Google's smartphone that doesn't belong to the Pixel family. Could this mean that Google is making three flagship phones this year? Or possibly, one Nexus device and two Pixel 2 Phones?
There are a few reasons why Taimen makes more sense to be a Nexus device rather than a Pixel.
- The third Google phone has been rumored to be the budget smartphone.
- Rick Osterloh has made it clear that Pixel 2 will remain premium.
- A 6-inch device reminds fans of the Nexus 6 and could hint at the rebirth of the most-beloved Android brand.
Thus, it is safe to argue that the third device won't likely be a Pixel 2. Another evidence corroborating this speculation is the report from BGR that stated 'Taimen' as a larger device that doesn't group into the Pixel family.
