More people download apps on Dec. 25 largely because more people receive new phones on that day than any other, according to the Atlantic. Like that new electric football set or Gameboy, a new phone must be tested and toyed with within hours of when it is received. Thus, so are its apps. Overall, people downloaded 328 million apps on their smartphones or tablets last year and that total is expected to be surpassed this season, according to the Atlantic.
