Ever since starting out 18-0, the SMU Mustangs (21) have not been able to win consecutive games, and will have to try and buck that trend on the road against the UConn Huskies.
After a rocky start to their conference schedule, UConn is trying to stabilize itself and capture the AAC regular season title. They are now within a game-and-a-half of the conference lead after beating Tulsa for their seventh win in their last nine games.

On a conference call with Connecticut media members, SMU head coach Larry Brown expressed frustration over his team's postseason ban, arguing the punishment did not fit what his program was charged with. As a result, Brown has SMU's sights set on winning the AAC regular season title.
SMU has found fortune against UConn of late, especially in Storrs surprisingly enough, winning their last two of three trips there.
"When we found out the penalty, which blew everybody away, the kids talked about trying to win the conference outright," Brown told reporters, according to The Hartford Courant. "I didn't want to change that. I think my job, the job of the coaching staff, is to get ready for each game, that game is really important, and to have a good year for the seniors. That's what we've kind of focused on."
